Alderley Edge Art Festival - new work

Pebbles Pastel (44cm x 50cm)

There's nothing like the looming deadline of an exhibition to clear the head and inspire me to create some new pieces of work. I've always liked painting rocks, they're passive, they don't move much and unlike portrait painters I don't need to build a relationship with them. Rock dosen't react to me and I can get on with the job in hand. The hazards are few, apart from curious holidaymakers, sniffing dogs and an incoming tide!

Alderley Edge Art Festival

We had a day in Cheshire yesterday, looking at the Festival Hall in Alderley Edge, the venue for my next exhibition and as I understand it the first Alderley Edge Art Festival, 2nd - 5th May.

I have been invited to join a group of artists to form an artists' co-operative (ACO Galleries) with the idea of staging group shows in the North West and North Wales.

Other artists in the co-operative so far are:-
Anne Bonner
Harry Robertson
Jonathan Brier
Emily Speakman
Tony Evans
Ian Walton

Oh, I do like to be beside the seaside

There's nothing quite like a long white wall, a stack of paintings screaming to be hung and a well charged screwdriver. Twenty paintings will be holidaying in Venue Cymru, Llandudno over the next three months. Wish you were here?
