Maen y Gaseg again

Maen y Gaseg (Pastel/Ink on board)  62cm x 48cm

Long hot summers of my childhood were spent wandering the hills above Brynrefail and Deiniolen. The heat, the smell of bracken, the stillness and the hum of insects. Narrow, wall-lined tracks with rusty gates and stiles leading to who knew where. Snowdonia is full of infrequently visited pockets of land where you never meet a soul, long abandoned farms and forgotten paths.

I have painted Maen y Gaseg and in the surrounding hills many times over the years. Things change over time, the lintel on the gable end of the outbuilding has now collapsed and the old gate has disappeared.

This painting will be part of an exhibition of about 40 new pieces of work that will be on display during three weekends (including Fridays) in September as part of the Helfa Gelf Open Studios event. Visitors are very welcome to come along to view the work and talk to the artists. Admission is FREE.
Starts Friday 6th September, now only 20 days to go!

September 6, 7, 8, 13, 14, 15, 20, 21 & 22
11am - 5pm (or any other time by appointment)
